Block makes tax-deductible visit

"Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" has not been above trying a few gimmicks to hang onto viewers, either. Already it has aired two editions of "Celebrity Millionaire," a college edition and "Family Millionaire." Now there's "Tax-Free Millionaire," a co-promotion with Kansas City's own H&R Block. Contestants on this week's broadcasts will have the taxes on their winnings paid by H&R Block, meaning that if somebody wins $32,000, she'll actually take home 32 grand. In addition, H&R Block will offer free financial planning to this week's winners through a team of advisers the company has dubbed its "Millionaire Block Squad." No word on whether the tax advisers will wear the shiny ties and monochromatic shirts favored by Regis Philbin. >>>
