Should you take this 'Bachelor'?
'The Bachelor' Airs: 8 tonight on ABC (Channel 9), for six weeks. Stars: Host Chris Harrison ("Mall Masters"), Alex Michel and 25 eligible women. Who should watch: People named Darva. If people can pretend there is such a thing as an upscale strip club, can't there be a high-class version of "Who Wants to Marry a Multimillionaire?" Well, that's what these 25 bachelorettes would like to believe. For the next six weeks, Michel, who holds degrees from Harvard and Stanford and is described by ABC as "a successful businessman" - take that, Rick Rockwell - will select one lucky lady from this field, but only after traveling around the world with the finalists, getting lots of attention and generally driving any feminists who might be watching up a tree. "The Bachelor" gets off to a slow start but maybe that's to be expected. It starts with a marathon mixer; Take "hi, my name is Angelique" and multiply it 25 times and you get the idea. Michel tells the women he is "humbled and honored" by the turnout, perhaps forgetting that ABC flew all the women to Malibu for the party. Finally, Michel presents 15 women with roses, leaving the rest to pack their bags. Even though we know next to nothing about these people, the scene is designed to stir up emotions among viewers. You can pretty much guess what they'll be talking about Tuesday on "The View."
