And now, the Rove-CPB connection

KarlroveIt just gets better and better.

Turns out, the Inspector General's report into misdeeds by the former chairman of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Ken "Kenny" Tomlinson, contains a reference to an email exchange between Tomlinson and White House advisor Karl Rove.

The IG's report
found that while the Rove-Tomlinson emails were "cryptic in nature" -- like they would be anything but cryptic -- they nonetheless left the IG with the impression "that the former Chairman was strongly motivated by political considerations in filling the President/CEO position."

Now, mind you, there's politics and then there's politics. No one's pretending that landing any CEO's job in Washington, even one that doesn't rate a mention in the President's 249-page "plum book," involves no politicking or jockeying of any kind. What's outrageous is the idea that the CPB itself could be politicized, as it has never been before, even under such outspoken CPB chairmen as Richard Carlson. Since we know that Karl Rove doesn't stick his hand into cookie jars idly, one must assume that imposing his agenda on CPB was his intent in communicating with Tomlinson at such a crucial moment as the appointment of a new CEO.

The shadow over that CEO, Pat Harrison, is growing wider and darker by the day.
