Amateurs make the cut
The people who assemble the "Late Show with David Letterman" e-letter every week hold a Top Ten reader contest. Writers throw out a topic, readers try their best to come up with punchlines. Usually they prove that writing a Top Ten List is harder than it looks.
But then comes weeks like this one. Topic: "Top Ten Rejected Titles for 'Brokeback Mountain.'" It may not seem like a slow hanging curveball down the middle of the plate, but it was to this bunch. My favorite was #7 ... and the other nine finalists. On the jump.
