Reader Jeff Trout writes:
I thought you might like to know that the NBC affiliate in Joplin (Mo.) decided to air "The Book of Daniel" (I thought it was one of the best pilots in ages) but, in what was obviously a nod to the idiots who had been protesting a show none of them had seen, aired "Miracles II: All Things Are Possible," a Pat Robertson special, in place of what NBC had scheduled for 7-8 PM.
I thought it was highly ironic that of all the television preachers out there, they picked Robertson, especially in light of the news earlier in the day where Robertson had declared Prime Minister Sharon's stroke God's will. I am sure more people would be offended by Pat Robertson's remarks than were by the content of "The Book of Daniel."
Don't be so sure, my friend. Old Pat has been putting his expensive shoes into his golden piehole for decades now, and nothing has seemingly stopped him. Anyway, it appears CBN had already paid for "Miracles II" to air on KSNF prior to either his pronouncement on Sharon or the "Daniel" hoohah. But back to Jeff's letter.
I'm not sure what Duane Lammers (who apparently is general manager for ALL Nexstar stations) really thinks of "The Book of Daniel." If he is really opposed to the show, then raising the point did nothing but make sure that people would watch it. I suspect he was fanning the flames of controversy in order to draw views to the last place network. I know that's the only reason I watched it.
Lammers, you'll recall, is the man who took "Daniel" off the air in Terre Haute as well. He also sees no problem lecturing the government about indecency yet continuing to air a highly-rated show in which rape, incest, and discarded babies are routinely used for entertainment.
But hey, at least Pat Robertson's money is welcome there.

You know, Father Coughlin just ruined that name for decades. Now that the Giants tanked, I guess it's up to me to make the name worthy of respect again.
Bah, that's too much pressure. Pass the bonbons.
