Tim Goodman is not here at the Death March with Cocktails (a phrase he did not coin but did popularize to describe the TV critics' tour). However, he is here in spirit, if by "spirit" we mean a downloadable MP3 of his voice that will live on long after we have all shuffled off this mortal coil.
And if that harshes your mellow a little ... well, then that is the perfect preparation for Goodman's four-part podcast interview with Stephen Colbert. It was recorded ... I'll let Tim take it from here:
... live on stage last Saturday night, with Colbert. It was part of the City Arts & Lectures series which is quite the popular ticket in this town (Thursday night: Phillip Seymour Hoffman…)
Anyway, the glorious Herbst Theater seats 900 in a three-tiered balcony setting and Colbert, who sold out faster than anyone else in the series, could have filled the thing three or four times over, I'm told. His wife sat with my wife and told her that he talked about some personal things he never talks about and she thought the whole thing went off great.
And by "great" we mean he talked about his father and brothers dying in a plane crash and coping with some serious anger management issues.

My wife & I attended that City Arts & Lectures, and it was well worth the cost. Colbert seemed the exact opposite of "Stephen Colbert" of THE COLBERT REPORT - personable, sweet, and genuine.
