Ooh... there's a Price is Right Million Dollar Spectacular coming up... (makes a note to set the TiFaux...)

Why does everyone hate this show? Its great...and if you need a reminder of how awkward things can be in the beginning, I can only recommend a re-watching of the first "sex in the city" episodes...clunky, awkward, little to no connection, very little funny about them, and SJP speaking directly to the camera was not just awkward for her, but for us! And now...no one remembers those episodes. Give these folks a chance!

Damn them!
I knew when EVERY member of our family sat down together, watched Love Monkey and proclaimed "Great show!" it was doomed.
The kid who played Wayne (Teddy Geiger) has his tunes on the radio now, I figured that might help...sigh.
Is there ANY hope of a campaign to bring it back?

(tiny voice in the darkness)...any hope?

Ack! Now my husband is telling me that "Commander in Chief" has been cancelled!
Say it ain't so!
Posted by: Marti | February 14, 2006 at 06:40 PM
There's always hope for bringing this show back, and it's worth fighting for. There is no show like it that combines great music, a guy's approach to life, and infinite possibilities stemming from the laid out plot. Seinfeld was much much more shakey in it's first episode...

Thanks for the response, Chris. I sure hope they'll give it another chance. I am not fond of all of the crime shows on CBS. Many of them are getting too disgusting to watch.
I just don't understand the mentality of the network, to promote the heck out of Love Monkey and then drop it so quickly. The website alone had to cost a bundle.

"Commander-in-Chief" has not been cancelled--it is not coming back until April. Guess they wanted to avoid the Olympics and they also claim that they want to give Bochco more time to get the show's problems ironed out.

Ah, thank you for the news on "Commander-in-Chief".
Has anyone heard of a "Save Love Monkey" campaign?
Posted by: Marti | February 15, 2006 at 04:12 PM
I don't believe it! A great show - clever, fun. I became addicted after just the pilot and was looking forward to many, many episodes. I still am - I hope that, somehow, it will be shown.

Thanks Mark. I did a "Save Love Monkey" post, signed the online petition and sent an e-mail, but I'm not hlding my breath on any of it doing any good LOL
Posted by: Marti | February 16, 2006 at 02:20 PM
Please, please, please--enough with the online petitions. They outlived their usefulness a long time ago and networks simply do not take them seriously.
Let's put it this way--when there's a "Save Tony Danza" online petition up...

Thanks for the nose rinse - I snorted my coffee out through my nostrils on that one!

So, I guess the big message from the networks these days is that if something is not a huge hit out of the box, it will be taken off the air in a few weeks, and replaced with RE-RUNS of something that was a big hit. What a way to spur originality. The end result is pretty obvious, though. Every thing out there today is a clone of Law & Order or CSI (which aren't that different to begin with). Other than procedural dramas, we have "reality" shows which everyone seems to hate, but Nielsen loves (how does that work?).
If people don't have enough time to connect with the show, how the heck is it ever supposed to be a hit? Maybe it will just continue the trend of cable picking up shows that the networks don't deem worthy. At least, until they develop enough of a following for the networks to pay out the rear to buy them back (see Family Guy).
Hey, USA, TNT, CBS, pick up LOVE MONKEY!!
Heck, VH1! It IS a music geek show.

Regarding the cancellation of Love Monkey - It's a question of priorities and CBS has made a mistake - it's an opportunity lost for them and for us. I told my daughters about the show and after seeing only one episode they became immediately addicted. Apparently, many others have had the same experience. I hope that CBS will bring the show back. It is good!

Love Monkey was the best show on TV. CBS lost a great show that would bury NBC. Now NBC has a shot again.

My husband and I were so upset when we found out "Love Monkey" was on "hiatus"...Unbelievable! Three episodes is hardly enough time to establish an audience...by the time we got to our friends to tell them about this great show it was cancelled!! Enough of the crime shows, autopsy shows, game shows, reality shows already!! I saw an interesting suggestion on one of the petition sites...how about changing the name to "CSI:Love Monkey"...
Is there any chance at all of bringing Love Monkey back? I've been on all of the petition sites, wrote to CBS, via email and a snail mail. Tom Cavanagh is the best...my husband and I never missed "Ed" and was very disappointed when it was cancelled too. CBS really needs to give Love Monkey the chance it deserves! It's fresh, funny, well-written, great characters, especially Tom... has great music...I would think the younger audience especially would love this show. Teddy has a voice similar to Dave Mathews and a style of his own. Maybe another network can buy it...I know there are 8 episodes that were already taped. Who's running the show at CBS...whoever it is, he or she needs to get a clue!

Please bring back LOVE MONKEY. I loved that show.

I liked Love Monkey so much that I stopped looking at Law And Order SVU. And believe me nothing could keep me away from SVU. I hated it so bad when I stopped seeing the show on Tuesdays so I got online and started doing some research and came across this site. We do need a "Save Love Money" campaign.

I agree with most of the comments on this site. I loved the show and am mad that it is off the air. The music was fabulous - the storylines were interesting, and the characters were likeable. CBS blew it - I think this show would have really grown on people!

I guess I am the last to know. I thought it just hadn't been on because of the Olympics. It was the first original show I have watched in a long time. I enjoyed it very much and I hope that the network comes to their senses and gives it another chance.

Can't believe it!!! The first show in a while that I actually looked forward to watching at night and it gets cancelled. Tom Cavanaugh is great (in a dry way). The premise was different. The music was great (biased cause Teddy is from the area). There's so much crap on television these days (namely unlimited amounts of "reality tv") that a show like "monkey" was actually a breath of fresh air. Other than that.......tv sucks. How many freakin' medical and/or law shows can they possibly come up with? I'm tired of seeing people either get cut open or shot!!!! Or worse, I'm tired of watching the "reality" lives of a bunch of people that I don't know or don't care to know!!! CBS ARE YOU LISTENING!!!!!!! Give me something different. Give me back my "Love Monkey"!!
Signed,
Desparate for good tv

I LOVE 'Love Monkey'!!! I chose it over 'Boston Legal' (which I wouldn't miss no matter what) because I love Tom Cavanagh. Once I found 'ED' I never missed an episode of that. I lived my life around that program. (Where ARE the DVD's for 'ED'?) I was deeply saddened by it's cancelation.
What's with all the reruns? When reruns are on THAT's when I try another program.
There was one program on Tues.night that didn't fare very well, after a few episodes it was moved to Friday and it's a hit.
Would some other INTELLIGENT network PLEASE pick up this program, so we can all say, "We told you so!!"

Aww man. I can't Believe they cancelled this show, it was awesome. I didn't find out about it until the 4th episode and I emailed all my friends to watch it the next week. They've been giving me crap that I watch some imaginary show. We used to watch bands a lot back in college so I know they would've watched it.
wasn't cheers almost cancelled and they brought it back? Maybe another network will buy it like the last guy said.
