Further reflections on Reuven Frank, who died this week, using some of the material from the earlier post.

And on the jump, Mike Chapman writes, "When he was named NBC news president for the second time, we cheered."

I worked as a videotape editor at NBC in the early 80's. During my first week, I noted a framed picture of a white-haired gentleman above our supervisor's desk. "Who's that?" I inquired. The supervisor, a life-long member of the technical union and a man best described as "crusty", glared at my rookie question. "That," he said, with a touch of reverence, "is Reuven." Reuven Frank's abilties in the edit room made every editor worth his salt want to work with him. When he became news president for a second time, we cheered. He was one of us, someone who thought in pictues, who never apologized for being in the news business. I've read his book many times. I never met him, but I felt that I knew him. Goodbye, Reuven...thanks for being our conscience at NBC.
