Now hear this
Last week, the New York Times ran this "trend story" (I'm suspicious of the whole genre even as I voluntarily add to it) on public readings of books:
Link: In the Age of the Overamplified, a Resurgence for the Humble Lecture - New York Times.
As I looked at the cutline, I was struck by deja vu. Sure enough, the venue in the photograph, the KGB Bar on 4th Street in NYC, is where I gave my one and only public reading of Barnhart's Unauthorized TV 98.
Whether my annual TV preview returns or not, only time and the business plan will tell. But as it happens, Mrs. TV Barn is now on the humble lecture circuit, as a way of moving copies of her new biography of the pioneering feminist Clarina Nichols. We are publishing the book ourselves and gathering some nice reviews from heretofore respectable journals.
If you're in Kansas City, she'll be appearing Saturday at 2 at the Westport Library. Even if you're not in Kansas City, she'll be appearing Saturday at 2 at the Westport Library. She's also Walt Bodine's guest on Wednesday, so tune in.
