"Intervention" spinoff

I'm looking forward to this one, too.

NEW YORK, NY MARCH 6, 2006 -- What would you do if you had the opportunity to confront someone who had brought a great tragedy to your life? Would you jump at the opportunity to let them know what they've done to you and your family?  A&E Network explores a revolutionary approach in the World Premiere one-hour Special, CONFRONTATION, airing Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10PM/9C.

"Restorative Justice" is a highly innovative method of bringing closure to people who need it the most, by letting victims and their families confront the offender, ask questions, get mad, heal and move on with their lives.  CONFRONTATION is an intimate and dramatic real-life exploration into the lives of the people most affected by a serious crime: the victims, their families and the offender.

The story of that painful event and its consequences are told first-hand by those directly involved as they prepare for their emotionally-charged face-to-face meeting.  The victims and their family members hope to find answers to painful questions and the offenders may reach some resolution, too - learning the true consequences of their actions.  In the end, everyone's lives are changed forever.

Restorative Justice programs are changing the face of criminal justice systems worldwide. Offenders who go through the programs are significantly less likely to commit future crimes. In this gripping one-hour special, two stories are documented, both ending with unforgettable face-to-face confrontations between victims and offenders:

Jennifer Eaton-Bertagnolli was only 17 years old when her father was murdered while she slept in the next room. Now 35, Jennifer is ready to confront James "Billy" Green, the man who stabbed her father to death. The weeks of intensive preparation for their meeting are documented as cameras capture the complicated scope of emotions building within both victim and offender. When Jennifer and Billy meet face-to-face at the Iowa State Penitentiary, the encounter is raw, real and riveting.

Shelly Maddox thought she knew her son Corey. Then, six years ago, when Corey was murdered, she discovered that he had been living a secret life and was involved in dealing drugs. Mark Huyber was convicted of shooting Corey Maddox during a drug-related incident. With the support of experienced mediators, Shelly has decided to confront the man who killed her son. In a powerful and painful meeting, she hears from the offender the shocking and disturbing details surrounding her son's death and attempts to come to terms with what she's learned.

Nancy Dubuc and Laura Fleury serve as the A&E Network executive producers; and Jon Kroll and Caroline R. Maria are the executive producers for CONFRONTATION.  The program was created by Caroline R. Maria.  The co-executive producer is Sydney Levin, and the Producer is Mark Costa.  CONFRONTATION is produced by New Line Television in association with Cinemaria for A&E Network.
