Every week, I receive from CBS publicity the latest breathless release about the ratings for "Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer." Apparently, Bob's doing gangbusters in Washington as well as New York. I'll never know, though -- KCTV-5, our local affiliate, doesn't like "Face the Nation."
Instead of Schieff, we get what local reader Marvin Hollis described to me as "an hour and a half, sometimes two hours of hashed and rehashed local news. I think that somehow, they should be able to work in half an hour of 'Face the Nation.'" I agree.
On the jump: "Face" is tied with Russert in adult demos.

Yeah. This sucks. If I want to know about car crashes, rapes, robberies or a girl who can't go to school because she has a streak of red hair in her head, then I will watch the weeknight news bloobaths. Sunday mornings are reserved for national news talkers and KCPT.

I really like Schieffer. Their commercials for The CBS Evening News claims they are gaining with him as anchor, of course you can skew ratings data six ways to Sunday to make it sound like whatever you want LOL
I find the rehashed local news boring as well - I'd much rather see Face the Nation.

Sorry you missed FCN on 3/19..let me give you a recap. For all the dumb things the VP said on that broadcast perhaps the dumbest of all was; "I did not ask for this job - I was drafted."
I would not care if the VP was staying in a 200 year old farm house on the coast of Maine, without insulation or windows, in the middle of January, with a nor'easter in the forecast. The Vp should banish the words "draft, drafted, and drafty" from his volcabulary. Coming from a man who requested, recieved, and accepted 5 deferments when faced with the draft previously was unbelieveable. Apparently he would rather start a war and send other peoples children off to battle then serve in the military during one. Shame on him.
