The Trib's Maureen Ryan had a surprisingly candid Q-and-A with the guy who let Tommy Gavin go ahead and rape his ex-wife on "Rescue Me" last month. John Landgraf, the head of FX, said he expects Denis Leary's character will get his "comeuppance" for what he did on the episode, and that while he'd rather not have controversy swirling around one scene from one episode, he understands why it happened.
It's just that, in Landgraf's view, "it’s not that our shows are amoral, it’s that
the morality of them exists in the long, arcing consequences of how
human life is lived." Which means the ultimate payback may not come until season four of "Rescue Me," which it was just assured of last week when Landgraf renewed the show.
