Striking "Top Model" writer, Rush Limbaugh's "24" heartthrob, the man from "Earl."
Overheard at Pasadena:
“It’s absolutely known within our industry that it isn’t so-called ‘unscripted television.’ Real writers with real talent have to come in and make stories out of 250 hours of footage and reduce it to 41 minutes.” — Kai Bowe, one of 12 producers on the reality show “America’s Next Top Model” who went on strike Friday against the CW network. The group wants writing credits for its members’ work on “Top Model,” which would entitle them to union protection, health care and other benefits extended to writers on scripted shows. It was the first work stoppage at a reality show, where hiring nonunion producers is a common money-saving practice.
“Boy, is it hot today or what? I think I’m going to tell my boyfriend, Rush Limbaugh, that global warming is real. Do you think he’ll listen to me? I don’t think so. I think I’m the one who listens in the relationship.” — “24” star Mary Lynn Rajskub, making fun of the picture that made the rounds last month of the conservative radio host kissing her. The photo was taken at a think-tank panel in Washington, moderated by Limbaugh, on Hollywood and terrorism.
“If there’s one thing I’ve learned from doing ‘Yes, Dear,’ it’s that you want the critics on your side.” — Greg Garcia, accepting his award from TV critics for “My Name Is Earl” while referencing a not-so-well-received (but commercially successful) earlier sitcom of his.
