Waiting for the other shoe to drop

Now that the FCC has conditionally approved the Adelphia-Time Warner-Comcast deal, Kansas Citians are waiting for their minor piece of business to be transacted: namely, the coming systems swap that will make our market either all-Time Warner or all-Comcast.

On June 30, a two-year freeze on system swaps between the two cable giants expired, and some readers inquired what the status was.  But when that deal was signed, it was expected that the dispersal of Adelphia's assets would be finished by June.  Well, it wasn't, because groups like the Media Access Project did their good citizens' work and got some conditions attached to this deal.
