The "South Park" episode featuring Tom Cruise lost out to "The Simpsons" at this weekend's Creative Arts Emmys, the precursor to next Sunday's Prime Time Emmy Awards. In accepting the Emmy, "Simpsons" producer Al Jean said, "This is what happens when you don't mock Scientology." In the audience, Nancy Cartwright was heard to yell, "Yeah baby!"
Here's one that got left out of E!'s story: the ambitious "10 Days That Unexpectedly Changed America," from the History Channel, which I loved, won Best Nonfiction Series.

So "Battlestar Galactica" goes home empty-handed while twice-cancelled "E-Ring" will get to put "Emmy-winning series" on its almost inevitable DVD release (complete with unaired episodes!).
Our universe is a strange and mysterious place.
