Had NBC re-cut the open to start with Conan on the plane and saying "what could go wrong" and then cut to him walking onto the beach, they could still do the joke and I don't think many people would be offended.

Everything is going to offend someone. Should plane crashes never be depicted because the world is full of people who have lost someone in a plane crash?

Being sensitive to those who are offended is one thing, but weakening something for everyone else just because a few people are offended? Those people shouldn't be watching the Emmys in their time of grief anyway, frankly.

And Tim Gilbert of WLEX should get over himself.
