Okay, that's not much of an improvement over the story's actual headline, Feathers fly over radio station’s Turkey Day promotion. But at least it reflects the rich barbecuing tradition of Kansas City. (Did I mention I smoked a turkey for Thanksgiving? The hardest part was getting the rolling paper around the legs ...)
Anyway, a funny postscript to the recent retirement of David Lawrence (pictured) from WDAF Radio. I have a copy of the lawsuit in front of me, courtesy of our legal eagle Dan Margolies, and it reads in part:
For years, WDAF and Lawrence conducted their own Turkey Day event with the Salvation Army. Attaching Lawrence's name to KFKF's Turkey Day event and stating that KFKF was continuing the event created the likelihood of confusion among the flyer's recipients as to Lawrence's approval or sponsorship of KFKF and KFKF's Turkey Day event. [KFKF owner] Wilks' actions were willful, malicious, and wanton, and have caused harm to Entercom. ...
Of course, some might say WDAF had this coming to them for dropping Turkey Day in the first place.
But I say a pox on both of them -- two country-music stations, yet no Paul Harvey, no Dixie Chicks. No thanks.

Speaking of barbecue, I just got back from a long weekend in Kansas City and must say that my Saturday night pilgrimage to Arthur Bryant's at 18th and Brooklyn was a near-religious experience. Yum.

Did you feel the same way about Lulu Roman?
And what you call "fat," I call cute and curvy.

How come no one points out that Garth Brooks is Girth Brooks? Or that Toby Keith is more like Tubby Keith?
Two guesses and your first doesn't count.
