Papa Bear interviews Baby Bear

Oreillycolbert Round one of the Stephen Colbert-Bill O'Reilly interviewfest is in the books, having just aired on Fox's "The O'Reilly Factor" And it was a spirited exchange with O'Reilly going toe to toe with his young admirer ...

Ahhhhhhh, you're onto me by now. Colbert ran circles around Bill, of course. And it's unlikely that O'Reilly will look any better when Colbert's raucous, partisan studio audience is involved later tonight, when O"Reilly returns the favor on "The Colbert Report."

"To be actually in the no-spin zone gives me vertigo," was Colbert's opening line, and he just kept picking up steam. Whether knocking down O"Reilly's laughable attempts at research ("We talked to your third-grade teacher, and she said you were little Stephen COLBURT!") or stymieing O'Reilly's attempts at table-turning ("Here's what I love about you, Bill.  You give and give.  This is why I could never host 'The View.'  I work four hours a week. I haven't seen my kids in 18 months and my doctor says calcium is leeching from my bones. You go five hours and you do the radio 'Factor.' What gives you the power? Jesus Christ?  Or Pat Robertson's protein shakes?"), Colbert took command from the get-go  and never surrendered it.

O'Reilly's stabs at humor revealed what we always knew: that he's irony deficient.
