Local gal makes really, really good

Kansas Citians still remember Katherine Bliss, KC native and former Fox-4 news anchor who was here until the late 1990s, when she took a job at the CBS O&O in Chicago, WBBM.

Well, imagine my surprise when accompanying the lovely granddaughter to the new Kohl Children's Museum in suburban Chicago this weekend and seeing her name on the donor wall.

I asked Robert Feder, the venerable radio-TV columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times, if this was the same Kitty we knew. And he confirmed it was, producing a 2000 item from his column announcing that Bliss was engaged to Jerry James, a Chicago real estate developer. From the Google dives I did, it seems Bliss is involved in other related charitable work, including the Chicago Education Foundation.

Well, that's one way to make a transition out of journalism!
