Still more stuff to watch this week

“An Inconvenient Truth” airs at 7 tonight on Showtime. I can't imagine that anybody who wants to see this hasn't seen it. But given the recent rumors of a draft-Al Gore campaign in 2008, political junkies might want to watch this documentary again and see it for what it really is: an unpaid 90-minute image ad for the man who “used to be the next president.”

“Halfway Home” (9:30 p.m. CT Wednesday, Comedy Central) is the latest improvised sitcom from the seemingly endless supply of comedic talent developing shows for Comedy Central. It's kind of the outlaw wannabe of “Reno 911!” with parolees in a halfway house instead of cops in Nevada. I recommend it for at least one viewing.

It's the most wonderful time of the year -- the NCAA men's basketball tournament begins its 64-team shootout on CBS (11:30 a.m. Thursday, KCTV-5), as mid-major schools like Winthrop and Eastern Kentucky vie for the annual honor of playing David to the Goliaths that feed talent to the NBA. Additional games will air on KCTV-DT, the digital channel (if you have a Time Warner digital box, that's channel 1451).

By the way, I know what you're thinking, and the answer from KCTV's Kirk Black is this: “I have already prearranged with CBS to make sure that if we are in severe weather we have permission to move that game we're in over to KSMO.” So if you tune in expecting to see Butler-UCLA and it's Katie Horner instead, you know what to do.
