All times Eastern

8 p.m.
Just in case you missed the previous five hours of "Dancing With the Stars," ABC has a recap broadcast (see also 9). Lesson #1: The numbers are bad. Lesson #2: The Others hold everyone's fate in their hands.

Alberto Gonzales refuses to leggo the Eggo(R) brand Waffle Product on "Dateline" (NBC).

Gwen Stefani is forced to tutor the kids on a 67-minute "American Idol" (Fox). She's not actually singing until tomorrow night. Oh, and please buy her album. Thanks.

"American Heiress" (MyNetworkTV)
"Taste of America With Mark DeCarlo" (Travel)

9 p.m.
Blah, blah, blah, hip-hop star, blah, blah, blah, murder, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (NBC). Yadda yadda yadda.

As usual, gay men in drag show clueless bimbos how to be fabulous as "Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll" (CW) continues to worship the grounds upon which Tyra Banks makes coffee.

"Frontline/World" (PBS) scours the globe like Joan Crawford with an SOS pad to bring tales of modern media from the world of Islam to South Korea in "News War: Stories From a Small Planet."

One of the hoofers gets the boot on the "Dancing With the Stars Results Show" (ABC) featuring Dionne Warwick. Correction: not just the boot, "The Love Boot."

"Ancient Discoveries" (History): Ancient Chinese secrets aside from Calgon water softener.

"Deadliest Catch: Best of Season 2" (Discovery)
"Austin Stevens: Snakemaster" (Animal Planet)

9:07 p.m.
"House" (Fox; one hour) had a dream he'd been saved by a Marine, who's now his latest patient. Tune in for an "Office Call and a Gentleman."

9:30 p.m.
"Bam's Unholy Union" (MTV)

10 p.m.
Oddly, Roger Corman is not directing "Race to Execution" through the "Independent Lens" (PBS).

UNNECESSARY WINGED PICKET PATROL
"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (NBC): Tim Daly, Kathy Baker. Plot: Will a priest confess, or is someone else the real Judas?

"The Great American Dream Vote" (ABC) makes Mother Heald upset that "Boston Legal" has once again been preempted for a mélange of Amy Grant's failed "Three Wishes" scheme on NBC, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and the granddaddy of all "reward" shows -- "Queen for a Day." At least "B.L." has been renewed for season four (which almost, for syndication's sake, guarantees season five as well [Denny Crane!]).

"The Agency" (VH1) does jeans splicing.

"Driving Force" (A&E; season premiere, also 10:30): "Sleepy"
"Work Out" (Bravo): "Bashful"
"Bullrun" (Spike): "Dopey"
"Dirt" (FX; season finale): "Grumpy"
"ECW" (Sci Fi): "Happy"
"Miami Ink" (TLC): "Doc"
"Two-A-Days" (MTV): "Sneezy"

"The Final Report: Bombing Over Lockerbie" (National Geographic)
"College Hill" (BET)
"The Bad Girls Club" (Oxygen)
"Bullrun" (Spike)

10:30 p.m.
"Tori & Dean: Inn Love" (Oxygen)

11 p.m.
"King of Cars" (A&E)
"BodogFight" (ION)

SCHLOCK SOUP
* Rose: Madeleine Albright, Newt Gingrich
* Dennis Miller tries to be funny on "The Daily Show," babe.
* Marian Wright Edelman and Dr. Rod Paige enchant Tavis.
* Madeleine Albright and James Fallows are in awe of Stephen.
* Patricia Arquette, Paul Mooney and Macy Gray already know Dave's questions.
* Jeff Foxworthy, Sahara Desert runners and Dierks Bentley may be a Jay guest.
* Jenny McCarthy, the "Dancing with the Stars" castoff and Mika suck up to Jimmy.
* Randy Jackson, Piper Perabo and Roy Wood Jr. discuss Craig's "Yo Factor."

HE CAME, HE THAW, HE SUCKED
All of the aforementioned could be found in the E) "Thicke of the Night."
