NBC start times are optimistic.

7 p.m.
"Conversations" (BETJ): Musiq Soulchild

7:30 p.m.
"The Black Carpet" (BET)
"J&R Presents" (BETJ): Tanya Stephens

8 p.m.
Soldiers returning from Afghanistan would rather face Walter Reed Hospital than the experiments Lex Luthor has in store for them on "Smallville" (CW).

EVERY TIME YOU GO AWAY SUPERSIZEDLY WITH UNNECESSARY GUEST STARS-GEBRA
"My Name Is Earl" (NBC; 40 minutes): Christine Taylor, Giovanni Ribisi, Marlee Matlin, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Topo Gigio, the Mormon Tabernacle choir and the cast of ABC's "The Nin9." Plot: Earl's got it all, while Joy's got it "none."

"Survivor: Fiji" (CBS) gives away the car. Which always goes to a contestant who loses the grand prize.

UNNECESSAR-AY-YI-YI! GUEST STAR PATROL
"Ugly Betty" (ABC): Rita Moreno. Plot: The gang takes a road trip to Guadalajara and/or the studio backlot with palm trees.

When "Innocent" (BBC America; premiere, also 9) originally aired in the U.K., it was called "The Innocence Project." Besides losing nearly 60% of its title, some eight minutes of program will be replaced by commercials. Eh, who needs B stories?

"Dear Mama: BET's Mother's Day Celebration" (BET)
"Are You Smarter Than Hasslehoff & Baldwin?" (Fox; two hours)
"Need for Speed: Boats" (National Geographic)
"Classic Concerts" (BETJ): Etta James and the Roots Band

9 p.m.
"CSI: Episode Five: Return of the Dominatrix" (CBS)

It's the end of the first year for the characters on "Grey's Anatomy" (ABC). Well, okay, not really. But if you buy them as doctors ... your dentist in Brooklyn has a bridge to sell you.

Ol' yellow eyes is back on "Supernatural" (CW), and no, I don't mean Brent Spiner's novelty album.

"Pimp My Ride" (MTV)
"Salt Flat Speedway" (National Geographic)
"Mega Movers" (History): "Really Big Bridges"
"TNA iMPACT!" (Spike)

9:20 p.m.
Elliot prepares to wed Keith on "Scrubs" (NBC; 40 minutes), leaving J.D. conflicted, particularly when he learns how he was deceived by his ex-girlfriend Kim.

10 p.m.
IS IT MIDSEASON YET? / TELEG-EBRA
"The Fugitive" x "The X-Files" + "Punk'd" = "Traveler" (ABC): Frat buds go on the run when their "best" friend sets them up in a conspiracy that starts with a museum bombing. Could be worse; he might not have called them using 1-800-COLLECT (TM).

UNNECESSARY "JAG" GUEST STAR, ALMOST AS UNNECESSARY AS THE SERIES "JAG" WAS IN THE FIRST PLACE
"Without a Trace" (CBS; special night, season finale): Patrick Labyorteaux. Plot: Crack is wack.

THE GUEST STAR WEARS PRADA
"ER" (NBC): Stanley Tucci. Plot: Tucci gets even for what "ER" did to "Murder One."

"Penn & Teller's Bulls Hit" (Showtime) exposes the controversies and lies about ... Mount Rushmore?!?

"The Slanted Screen" (PBS in some markets [for my fellow New Yorkers: Sunday afternoon /jd]) examines the role of Asian men in film.

"Adventures in Hollyhood" (MTV)
"The Ultimate Fighter" (Spike)
"I Love New York 2: You Cast It!" (VH1)
