TV on the radio
I'll be shoveling copy all week long, so today's shorter blog posting is tantamount to taking a breather. First, I call your attention to the "Barnhart in print" zipper above, where you'll notice not one but two gun-jumping articles about "Sex and the City" in advance of the movie.

My voice pops up in a report that aired on today's "Day to Day." I'm a big fan of "Newshour," but the news that a major underwriter is pulling out confirms that the show isn't getting any younger or more influential. I'm afraid that, despite my longrunning viewership and affection for the show (Margaret Warner is a terrific interviewer, those wacky lapel pins notwithstanding), I too no longer make Jim Lehrer's program a must-see. And as I told my interviewer in a clip NOT airing on "Day to Day," I wish public radio would adopt public TV and begin to put more of its product on television before it's too late.
Also, Chip Franklin and I argued for all of San Diego to enjoy this morning. In the first segment he roped me into one of his mini-slash-non-controversies, over whether it was right for Obama to tell people to back off his wife during an interview on "Good Morning America" today. Then we talked about John McCain's "SNL" appearance and Chip made me rank my favorite "Weekend Update" anchors:
