No! Not George Carlin!

Gcarlin Maybe he really did do too much cocaine and that's why he's not with us anymore. Whatever the reason, I could've done without the loss of George Carlin for a while. For one thing, his last HBO special was not his best, and I was holding out hope that with a new wave of political correctness on the way, he could have had some fresh material to dig into for his 2010 special.

But mostly, I just know I'm going to miss seeing the guy on TV, watching him with Bill Maher or Keith Olbermann or even Jay Leno -- anyone willing to give that freak flag that was the mind of Carlin a chance to fly.

By the way, as I reflect on my comments in the audio clip about "niche comics," I must pay respect to the late great Redd Foxx, who was a niche comic before niche comics were cool (with white people).
