Here we are, almost to the All-Star break, and my TiVo still insists that there's a Cardinals game on tonight.
OK, maybe in the eastern half of the state, land of mass-produced beer and home to the "Farmer Wants a Wife" dude (assuming he's not flooded out). But here, we watch the Royals. You wouldn't know that from the TV listings that I get for FSN Kansas City on my two TiVo boxes.
I phoned this in the first week of the season. They said they'd get on it, but a change could take a few weeks. It's been three months. Medicare payments are faster than TiVo channel changes. And as a result, I can't set the TiVo for games, unless I want high-def.
At least I'm not alone. Turns out that DirecTV has been having issues, too, and FSN KC is moving mid-season, today, to Channel 672 from Channel 648. If the games weren't some of the best drama on TV these days, I'd almost be annoyed by the operators' ineptitude.
What's that you say? You weren't aware of the Royals' thrilling come-from-behind win last night even though you're a loyal Deadspin reader and they cover, like, everything? I mean EVERYTHING? Except the Royals when they win? Gee, how ... ESPN-like of them.

Subject: DirecTV channel number change
We just want to give a heads up that DirecTV satellite TV service is planning to change its channel numbers for some sports networks, including FSN Kansas City.
Beginning Wednesday (July 2), DirecTV subscribers will find Kansas City Royals telecasts on FSN Kansas City on a new channel – 672 (the old channel, through July 1, is 648).
High definition channel numbers will move with the standard definition channel number (for example: Royals HD telecasts will be found on 672-1).
The channel number for FSN Midwest, where DirecTV viewers continue to see FSN national programming and some regional events, remains 647 until September 10 (when it will move to 671).
Please let us know if you have any questions,

What was the reasoning for DirecTV changing FSN Kansas City's channel to 672? Why am I not allowed to see any programming for FSN Kansas City, other than the Royals games? I have Extra Innings, and most of the other regional sports channels that carry their baseball games, stay on the air around the clock...except for FSN KC!
