The Jericho fans are providing more entertainment than TV this summer. I hope they get more creative and keep the old merry pranksters in mind.

Jericho fans are a unique mix of individuals from around the world and everyone has their own ideas on how to better promote and get the word out. Unfortunately, people and ideas clash at times, but as the saying goes, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

Well, we're still here and not planning on going anywhere anytime soon.

That's what I am talking about, thank you, I would of loved to seen the money spent on DVD for the troops or some charitable campaign, This effort against the Nielsen was nothing but to make a few ripples. I for one stand up against anyone that sends nuts anywhere and will continue to do so.
Fighting the Nielsen rating system has nothing to do with Jericho being canceled and I hope others will follow, thank you for posting this article.
Have a great day!

Jericho Rangers Supporting The Troops
SFUniverse isn’t alone in noticing the great works of Jericho fans. The Dakota Voice has a great piece on Jericho Rangers rounding up 219 DVD’s of the show’s second season to support U.S. troops.

Twenty-one of those came from a middle school in Boca Raton, Fla where a teacher challenged her kids to make a difference. Hey, if the next generation is both donating to our troops and watching Jericho, I think they’re going to be OK.

The article notes that Rangers have raised at least $32,000 in charitable efforts, although that number could be much higher. Great job, Rangers! One of the things I love most about sci-fi is the communities it creates and the people that join together for positive causes. Though some people will never understand, it’s about a lot more than a TV show.

How about highlighting what Jericho fans are really about? There is a whole lot more to the Jericho fans than nuts, ads in magazines, billboards and TV commercials.

Nipshot

The original nuts campaign worked beautifully the first time around........now, sending nuts to anyone and everyone is just a waste of time and money..........it doen't not help our cause and is a nuisance.....been there, done that, won't work a second time. That money could have been better utilized in the many charitable projects the rangers are involved in....

Nuts to Nielsen is an effort to educate tv viewers on the Ills of the antiquated Nielsen ratings system. It omitts 99.999% of all viewers and is not tracking the modern era viewers watching online, downloadin, dvr'ing etc.

Variety and Hollywood Reporter took the nutty shellings in stride and given press to ALL the Save Jericho campaigns. I personally have funded most every Jericho campaign and have no problems with going nutty some for Jericho!

Mikey

On the record Nuts to Nielsen has shelled Nielsen Headquarters, Variety, Nielsen Olsmar, Florida and Hollywood Reporter.

And over 5000+ pounds of nuts ultimately donated to local food banks and shelters

You ask which side I'm on, nuts or anti nuts? I am on the side that is saving Jericho. We are a diverse group with diverse ideas. While I may not support every idea proposed to save our show, I do let others decide for themselves what they will support. Nuts or anti nuts, our goal is the same and that's to save Jericho.

Debby

Jericho fans are diverse and most of us are respectful of what others are doing in the name of Jericho. We have some fans that are trying to turn the attention on them instead of what we are really about which is bringing back our show. Even after we were saved last year we donated to humanitarian projects. If we get a new market I am sure humanitarian efforts will continue. We also are trying to draw attention to the fact that Nielsen is flawed. We have bought billboards and television ads because we want our show back. I hope soon you can report that our show is back on the air and further report our humanitarian efforts but most of all I want to hear that we have a new chapter of Jericho.

Okjayhawkgirl

Well said xrammyx and GenPatton, both of you brought up great points. Don't think I can add anything to that, expect thanks to Aaron for keeping Jericho alive in the news. Keep it up Rangers !!!!!!!

Jen

Great to see Jericho fans passionate about getting the word out. I was not even aware Jericho was canceled. Boo hoo

outlaw2448

I don't know about the Nuts to anything campaigns. Not everyone is on board and I believe that the more we do this we will get press time, but not the kind of thing that will help. What is even more sad, is that some of these blogs say that the Jericho fans have lost it. They think that all we do is waste money on NUTS and don't do anything worth while.

So PLEASE STOP THE NUT MADNESS.

let's just bring back the show. find a home for the show where it will be given a chance and not ripped off the air after every season. KEEP THE FIGHT ON JERICHO FANS, NEVER GIVE UP, IT'S AN IMPORTANT SHOW.

curlybean

We're all fighting for the same thing, right? Shouldn't we all be able to decide for ourselves how we want to contribute? This is America, after all. I remember someone saying that any contribution was appreciated, no matter how small. If we keep up this in-fighting, we will soon have our own little Jericho fans civil war. Let us all remember that we want to present a united front to save Jericho.

Wren

Great to see Jericho fans making news and fighting for a great show! Nuts to Nielsen and lets Save Jericho Again!

Hollywood Reporter Gets Lots of Nuts
by brian on July 3rd, 2008

Three guesses who those were from. The fans of twice-canceled apocalyptic drama Jericho aren’t about to give up without another fight and are letting everyone know it.

Hollywood Reporter senior writer James Hibberd (you’ll remember him from the Moonlight fiasco) said the THR mailroom got 1,050 pounds of nuts Monday. They’re now good on nuts through the Fourth of July, much of the summer, heck probably until Christmas. All kidding aside, THR is looking for local outlets to donate the forty-two 25-lb. boxes of nuts to.

I can’t begin to predict how things with Jericho will turn out but I think it’s safe to say no entertainment reporter will ever forget the show or its fans.

A lot of energy and money given to a topic that's hardly worthy a minute of anyone's time...

Let's not even mention the fact that Jericho wasted its potential within 3 episodes, and should be killed savagely, not saved.

The whole process made me laugh at first - those people DO have time on their hands.

Now it's making me angry: you have money to spare? Make it useful.
Stop wasting it in stupid adolescent tantrums and power-trips.

Boy, I'd like to see people so committed to real causes!

There are hungry people out there, help them instead, and maybe God (the ultimate TV programmer) will grant Jericho one more season, who knows. <-- IRONY (thought I'd spell it out for pea-brained religious whackos who might take me seriously on this one)

But, no seriously now: I'm a fan. I have loved some shows desperately and hated when they were cancelled, but hey it's just TV.

Stop wasting people's time, money and energy on remote TV programming, and start making differences in the world. Real ones.
