Well, first off, it looks like the west coast will get tape delayed coverage, again. Lucky some of us 'border city dwellers' can swing their antennae to the south and get live coverage from Mexico (w/o Bob 'LOOK AT THE FLAGS, CAN YOU HEAR MY VOICE OVER THE MUSIC" Costas).

So NBC is NOT the place to get China info, period. Too much to lose I suppose.

Today Matt Lauer reported from Tiananmen Square LIVE, the last live broadcast till after the olympics I presume. He spent a total of about 30 seconds talking about what happened here in 1989 and mentioned "iconic images" as they played 2 brief & literally hand-held home video grainy clips of the uprising we all know and remember.

These clips were nothing I remember ever seeing - ever. They weren't ICONIC - even at 15 seconds in length, they could have showed the tank guy, the paper mache liberty statue, the massive crowds, but no, they show something I could have filmed in the my backyard with 20 people over.

NBC is worse than Google in caving in to the Chinese. Where should I get my news on what's really happening in China during the olympics Aaron?

I said to my wife last night, I hope in a year or two, Lauer and Williams write a book about how they couldn't report on what was happening in 2008...
