Ike smacks down Arkansas-Texas game; ABC to show Oregon-Purdue instead

KMBC informs me that ABC has informed them that the afternoon game on Saturday, the warmup to Ohio State-Southern Cal, has been changed.

The Arkansas @ Texas game "has been cancelled due to a storm," advises ABC. Hurricane Ike is expected to hit Texas on the morning of the game, September 13. While Ike might not be much more than a heavy rainstorm by the time it reaches Austin -- forecasters are expecting to downgrade it to tropical depression by then -- the reality is that on Saturday very few people in Texas are going to care about a football game.

So instead, the Ducks and Boilermakers will go at it on KMBC. The Oregon-Purdue game is to be aired in HD.

And this just in: Keith Olbermann will remain in New York so he can cover the storm.
