People seem to forget that Letterman did what may have been the best interview with George W Bush in 2000, certainly tougher than most.

Someone has put the entire show on YouTube.

This segment includes a discussion of the debates, the death penalty, and terrorism.

Aaron, You are the one missing the point. A citizen of average intelligence does not listen to political pundits or Hollywood when it comes to casting their vote - regardless of what Rush, Hannity or Leno might think. The right and left wing media tend to preach to the choir and I listen to Leno and Letterman to be amused but do I think their views and value system reflect mine or the average American - absolutely not. The View is even more ridiculous - a bunch of women sitting around, talking over each other, thinking most of us are even remotely interested. But I think the underlying problem is that these folks are so used to the sound of their own voices and are absolutely convinced what they have to say is brilliant, they think the rest of us are of the same opinion. They are wrong.

Based on his skipping the David Letterman show, it seems to me that John McCain would rather lose an election than win one.

It is obvious, and in living live color, that John McCain lied to David Letterman, a fervent supporter, and was caught doing it on tape. Why would McCain lie to the man who's show he decided to announce his run for the presidency on? Because this is a rouse by McCain and when he saw the opportunity to make some political hay by having the interview with Kouric before doing what he told Letterman he was going to do he stepped on a friendship for political gain. McCain got what he deserved from Letterman and I hope the public see him for the liar he is.

The key statement to your rambling was "equal opportunity offender". This is why I do pay closer attention to Leno and Letterman.

I watched Letterman last night. Just sounded like he was crying about McCain canceling his interview. As far as hard hitting questions...I don't get my news from Letterman, Leno, The View or any other "entertainment" show. These show do nothing more that impose thier opinion instead of giving factual news.

Equal opportunity offender? Give me a break. How many Obama jokes have we seen on Late Night TV this year? Maybe a handful. I've seen probably hundreds and hundreds of McCain.. and now Sarah Palin, and George Bush jokes. Letterman is no doubt a very liberal Democrat, and Leno probably is as well with all those Hollywood types surrounding him.

Someone needs to count all the jokes -- I'd bet my life savings that both of these guys do twenty McCain jokes to every 1 Obama joke.
