"Idol" website made $13 million last season
No one knows how a site with so little actual content makes so much money, but to give you some idea, that amount covers Paula Abdul's salary.
Reality Blurred says that $13 million throwoff for AmericanIdol.com is just the tip of a $2.5 billion cash machine ... and that's to say nothing of all the other "Idols" around the world.
And yes, as was reported last month, judge Paula Abdul makes only $5 million to $8 million per year for services rendered. The disparity between her salary and the $36 million pulled down by Simon Cowell caused a minor flap in the news last month when someone in the Laker Girl's inner circle told MSNBC that Abdul is starting feel not "appreciated" by the producers for her many, many contributions to the show. (We will just leave it there.)
The $36 million figure was actually reported two years ago by Bill Carter in his book Desperate Networks, but apparently neither Abdul nor anyone in her entourage can be bothered to pick up a book.
