... that "Slumdog Millionaire" looks like a hell of a movie. My friend Ric urged me to see it, if for no other reason than to see how they do "Millionaire" over there (for one thing, it's more like "Who Wants to Win 250 Million Rupees?").
By the way, how stupid does that YouTube clip look? it's all because YouTube went to letterbox format but forgot to adjust the embedded clips properly -- and it can't be fixed by hand (I tried).
Anyway, about the local man...
Lance Haines of Kansas City, MO will be a contestant in the "Millionaire" hot seat with host Meredith Vieira, on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 04. "Millionaire" can be seen in the Kansas City area on KSHB (NBC), weekdays at 3:00pm.
NOTE -- New for this season, the "Ask The Expert" lifeline enables contestants to connect with a pre-determined "Expert" via a live face-to-face Skype video call on any question past the $1,000 level. Lance's "Expert" will be former "Millionaire" contestant, Tom Spencer ($100K-winner), who will sit in as resident "Expert" next week in episodes airing Thursday, 12/04 - Friday, 12/05.
Biographical Info. on Lance Haines -- (age 35):
Lance is a 1991 graduate of Kansas City Academy in Kansas City, MO and is the son of Judy Haines of Kansas City and Bill Haines of Vallejo, CA. He is engaged to Bree, who came with him to NYC and sat in the "Millionaire" audience as his on-air companion for the show.
Lance proposed to his girlfriend while he was in NYC to tape "Millionaire" (Sept. '08). The night before his taping, Lance took Bree to the top of the Empire State Building and popped the question!
Lance currently works in a job where he assists people with disabilities and special needs. When he was 16, he was asked to work for a week at a camp for kids with special needs. He loved it, ended up working there for three summers in a row and decided that's what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.
The home that Lance and Bree were renting caught fire a few months ago and destroyed most of their belongings. They recently bought a new house and he said that any "Millionaire" money would help them to furnish their new home.
Lance's good friend, mentor and trivia buddy Ken Skillman (of Raymore, MO) was recently diagnosed with cancer. Ken served as one of Lance's three potential "Phone A Friends" and Lance dedicated his time in the hot seat to him. Lance's other two "PAFs" were Tim Davis (a pharmacist from Kansas City) and Tom Dezner (his fiance's father, also from KC).
Lance said that if he won big on "Millionaire," he would open up a group home for individuals with special needs, furnish his new home, buy a new car and pay for his wedding.

The whole world seems to hate widescreen YouTube -- except me. Ever since I bought that laserdisc player back in the 90's, I have been keen on seeing films in their proper aspect ratio. Yes, there are black bars but you see the whole image as it was meant.
It's true that 99.9% of YouTube's current videos are full screen but for those of us posting WS videos, it's cool. And WS is the future -- or, really, the present.

BTW, can we expect a post on the debacle of the Rosie Live debut?
