1. "ER" flashback. Yes, take us back to those days when "ER" still mattered, NBC! This week see Anthony Edwards, the everyman M.D. who never really was replaced, returning via the not-so-magic gimmick known as the flashback.
2. "Body of War." The documentary about KC Iraq War vet Tomas Young is out on DVD. It includes video of the fateful 2002 Senate vote authorizing the war and a great interview with the filmmakers, Ellen Spiro and Phil Donahue.
3. Ari Gold references. You may have heard that Jeremy Piven's character on "Entourage" is loosely based on an actual out-of-control Hollywood agent. What you may not know is that Ari Emanuel's brother is Rahm, Barack Obama's hard-charging chief of staff. We hear Ari is the milder sibling.
...AND WHAT'S NOT
1. "Knight Rider" retooling. NBC wants the remake to be more like the '80s David Hasselhoff version. Here's one way to do that: Cancel the show!
2. "Boston Legal's" election eve "debate." No shocker that Alan Shore was allowed to make a one-sided "case" for Barack Obama while McCain supporter Denny Crane sat mute. But I was surprised how lame was Alan's case for Obama (mostly he ripped GOP campaign tactics). The change we need is for this show to go away already.
3. Andrew Johnston, RIP. We became friends online in our 20s, then we both stumbled into careers as TV critics in our 30s -- he at Time Out New York -- and then we both battled cancer. Unfortunately, Andrew succumbed Oct. 26 at age 40.
