Women DO see combat duty...

Contrary to official policy, females were forced to take up arms and defend themselves in Iraq, according to "Lioness," airing in much of the country tonight.

KCPT won't be showing "Lioness" until next Wednesday, Nov. 19. One of the women featured is Ranie Ruthig, who currently serves with the Kansas National Guard but was a member of the 1st Engineer Battalion. Asked how her experience differed from the men, she told PBS simply, "Our experiences were the same -- although I know our experiences were the exception and not the rule. "
