What's working for me this week...

Slumdogmill

1. "Slumdog Millionaire." Only the company that once owned the rights to the world's biggest game show, then sold them to start a film studio, could pull this off. A brilliant movie -- perhaps not as good for you as "Milk," but filling and tasty.

2. Fedex out of the Super Bowl. After ending the practice of matching employees' retirement funds earlier this year, plowing millions into a few fleeting seconds of commercial comedy would've sent a bad message.

... AND WHAT'S NOT

1. Cutbacks at KCPT. No permanent CEO, no outreach to viewers or preschoolers, no money for the "Ruckettes" -- no wonder folks are worried.

2. Another holiday weekend, another "Lockup" marathon on MSNBC. There's no news like ... no news.

3. BET plans "extensive" coverage of Obama inauguration. And nothing afterwards.
