Thanks to reader Kevin for sending along this link to a slideshow from a lucky Time Warner Cable subscriber in Austin, who appears to be one of the first in the nation to get a tuning adapter for use with his Time Warner-crippled TiVo.
Just last week, the corporate spokesdude for Time Warner Cable told me that as soon as the not-so-demure devices were available in Kansas City, "you will be the first to know." And you, dear reader, will be the second.

Grr.. Time Warner Cable here in the Raleigh-Durham area. I'm still in waiting list limbo and jealous after being down at the inlaws in Orlando (BrightHouse) and seeing all the HD channels I'm missing. Let's hope the SDV's start flowing like water.. and soon!

I called TW-KC just before the holidays asking about the adapters. In between getting disconnected, I was able to get an answer of, "Sometime in January." I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll actually get something in April.

Ack. January of which year? They're still saying sometime in January...
