WeatheRate strikes again ...
... and like the Benjamin Button character who kept getting hit by lightning, the accuracy-in-forecasting service has lighted up KSHB for the sixth year running. I just checked and KSHB is the only station to win (and license) the WeatheRate "most accurate" badge all six years that Bruce Fixman's company (which I wrote about here) has been in business.
PR follows....
NBC ACTION WEATHER PLUS TEAM CERTIFIED KANSAS CITY'S MOST ACCURATE FORECAST
(Kansas City, Missouri)- For the sixth consecutive year, KSHB-TV's NBC Action Weather Plus team has been certified most accurate in Kansas City. The study was done by WeatheRate, the only independent weather forecast verification company in the nation.
"I feel like we just won our sixth straight Super Bowl," said Chief Meteorologist Gary Lezak. "From snow storms to severe thunderstorms to sunny weather we pride ourselves on bringing Kansas City the most accurate forecast."
Everyday, WeatheRate reviews the forecast from each local television station to determine whose forecast is most accurate. Through a series of mathematical calculations, WeatheRate determines the best daily, weekly and monthly forecast. They then award that station their exclusive seal of approval.
"The commitment, passion and dedication of the NBC Action Weather Plus team and Gary Lezak continues to shine for our viewers," added Rick Iler, News Director for NBC Action News. "It's an honor to be awarded #1 for the sixth consecutive year."
To create an impartial perspective, WeatheRate funds its own research using Weather Tracker ll, a patented data tracking and analysis system. It is important to note that television stations do not pay to participate in this survey. WeatheRate serves strictly as an impartial, third-party judge.
Bruce Fixman, President of WeatheRate said, "Only a few TV stations can say they've been crowned most accurate by WeatheRate since we began keeping track in 2003. Kansas City is fortunate to have Gary Lezak and the NBC Action News Weather Plus team. Congratulations to the reigning champs!"
