WHats working ... March 2
1. "Ashes to Ashes." The spinoff to "Life on Mars" -- set in 1981 and starring Keeley Hawes as the newest cop-stuck-in-time and Philip Glenister as her boss, lovable lunk Gene Hunt -- surpasses the original. It begins Saturday on BBC America.
2. TMZ. The Hollywood gossip site dished about a ridiculous party thrown by Northern Trust, whose executives were later forced to return $1.6 billion in bailout money to the taxpayers.
3. Ten years for Gary Lezak. The KSHB weathercaster's bone cancer was highly treatable, but his efforts since then to raise cancer awareness have seemed more that of someone with a new lease on life. He'll be honored in June as Cancer Survivor of the Year.
... AND WHAT'S NOT
1. "The Biggest Loser." OK, "reality TV" is wink-wink at best. But even this show's producers should've known that driving a contestant three miles to the finish line of a marathon to shoot a heartwarming moment was, in reality, a really dumb idea.
2. Tracking Jimmy Fallon's demise. Fact: NBC has never ousted the host of a late-night series. Fact: Carson Daly is not an option if Fallon falters. Fact: You can always watch Adult Swim until he gets better.
3. Paul Harvey, RIP. Gone from local airwaves since 2006, the voice millions revered and trusted was never the same after his beloved wife Angel died last year.
