"Poisoned Waters": Alarmist, disturbing, necessary, must-see TV


Here's all you need to know about tonight's set-the-TiVo-NOW! “Frontline” film, “Poisoned Waters,” from the filmmaker himself: “Seventy-three percent of the people (in Washington State) think Puget Sound is in great shape. Seventy-three percent of the knowledgeable people think Puget Sound is in terrible shape,” says Pulitzer Prize winner Hedrick Smith.

And it's not just Puget Sound. In an interview last week, Smith averred to me that he had spoken to lots of scientists across the country and to a one they told him that he could have picked any two bodies of water (“Frontline” also focuses on Chesapeake Bay) and found similar results.

And it's not just water pollution: “It’s health care, it’s education ... Unless it is the hottest subject, we are not doing a good job communicating in our society,” Smith says.
