Screenland Armour doubles our pleasure

When Butch Rigby gave me a tour of his newest movie theater creation last year, I knew from the moment I saw the stadium seating and heard Butch excitedly describe the kick-ass sound system that this Screenland would be one-of-a-kind. That hunch was confirmed when we did "Watch the Pilots with Aaron" there in the fall.
I also knew from our tour that he had room to grow inside the building should Screenland Armour prove wildly successful. It has and now he has, with this announcement of the theater's second screen opening this weekend. This will let lower-profile films continue to enjoy a nice run, such as "Black Hand Strawman," from the same director of the Nelly Don documentary that played for months and months at original Screenland.
Details below. The main feature will be "State of Play," which of course is based on the British TV miniseries that aired here on BBC America.
From Screenland PR:
We are proud to announce the opening of our second screen at the Screenland Armour Theatre! This weekend we will be able to keep audience favorite BLACK HAND STRAWMAN while opening the new blockbuster thriller STATE OF PLAY. While smaller in size than the original theatre the new screen will still feature state of the art projection and digital sound.
STATE OF PLAY opens Friday at Armour! Oscar® winner Russell Crowe leads an all-star cast in a blistering thriller about a rising congressman and an investigative journalist embroiled in a case of seemingly unrelated, brutal murders. ... Handsome, unflappable U.S. Congressman Stephen Collins (Ben Affleck) is the future of his political party: an honorable appointee who serves as the chairman of a committee overseeing defense spending. All eyes are upon the rising star to be his party’s contender for the upcoming presidential race. Until his research assistant/mistress is brutally murdered and buried secrets come tumbling out.
Also this weekend at Screenland Crossroads and Screenland Armour we continue the smash hit Kansas City exclusive of director Terence O'Malley's (NELLY DON) newest film about the Kansas City Mob entitled BLACK HAND STRAWMAN to the screen! Black Hand Strawman is the first feature-length telling of the amazing story of organized crime in Kansas City, home to one of the most effective mafia systems in the country. The film chronicles the origins of La Cosa Nostra in KC, explains the close relationship between Mob Boss Johnny Lazia and Machine Boss Tom Pendergast, exposes the dark days when KC was a major heroin distribution hub, explains how Harry Truman's meddling in local politics inspired vote fraud, and shows how Kansas City's Outfit organized the skimming of casinos in Las Vegas.
Finally, this weekend at Crossroads we have our monthly installment of the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW. Tickets are just $8 each and prop bags are available at the door for $3. Join our house troupe Fishnets and Floorshows for some good old fashion cult movie fun!
