Walt Bodine audio documentary airing Tuesday
Suddenly, April is turning into Celebrate Walt Month. A fine idea.
What happened was this. The Marr Sound Archives, based at the University of Missouri Kansas City, a while back began digitizing some of the tapes that Walt Bodine had donated to them in 1989. Now a new online collection of classic Walt has just been launched. Those of you who have RealAudio working properly on your browsers, unlike me, can even listen to it.
That led to KCUR doing a couple of special things to mark the launch of the Bodine archive. One was an all-new audio documentary about Walt's transition from radio to television and back to radio. That's airing tomorrow during the "Walt Bodine Show," and you'll hear me in it.
Then it's your turn to be part of the celebration, as the Kansas City Public Library will be hosting a live broadcast of the "Walt Bodine Show" April 24 with Walt and Marr Sound Archives keeper Chuck Haddix.
(You'll also hear me live in-studio with Walt between those two dates on the 21st, a week from Tuesday, my monthly appearance.)
