Is Roland Burris STILL the senator? Maybe not much longer...
To me, the media's inability to shake enough evidence loose to demonstrate what many people suspected — that Roland Burris had done more than insistently lobby former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich for Barack Obama's Senate seat — was a sign that Burris was at least as crafty as the media was easily distracted.
But perhaps the chickens are starting to come home to roost. This morning, a gaggle of Chicago reporters confronted Burris about the release of wiretaps showing Burris stepping awfully close to the idea of doing Something Nice for Blago in exchange for consideration for the seat.
Among those reporters was ex-KCTV investigative guy Steve Chamraz, now working for Fox Chicago. His is the voice closest to the Fox microphone in this morning's testy exchange between Burris and the press. As Chamraz texted me, "I'll bet Burris didn't imagine a six-year i-team veteran showing up with the morning crews."
Earlier on TVB:
I urged the media to stop the Burris love train.
I attended a day of the Blago impeachment hearings in Springfield.
