Sneak peek at "Meet the Past," the TV series

Here we go, at long last ... from KCPL PR ... note that it's being held at the comfy Truman Forum at the Plaza Branch, where Mrs. TVB and I attended a lovely program by former poet laureate Ted Kooser just last Friday.

Always a good idea to go to the website and RSVP, so they know how much wine to buy.

Library to Host Special Sneak Preview of "Meet the Past" Television Series

(Kansas City, Missouri) - Kansas City Public Library Director Crosby Kemper III, Director of Public Affairs Henry Fortunato, and Kansas City historian Bill Worley host a preview of the Meet the Past television series on Thursday, October 1, at 6:30 p.m. in the Truman Forum at the Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St.

Kemper, Fortunato, and Worley will present video clips and share some of their favorite moments from the first season of the series.

The series will premiere on Kansas City Public Television on Thursday, October 8, at 8:30 p.m. and continue in that timeslot throughout the fall television season.

Meet the Past features Library Director Crosby Kemper III interviewing prominent historical figures (as portrayed by actors and veteran Chautauqua performers) with Kansas City-area connections. The television series, the filming for which concluded in early September, will feature appearances by Langston Hughes, Nell Donnelly Reed, Walt Disney, Jesse James, Charlie Parker, Annie Chambers, Tom Pendergast, John Brown, William Allen White, Arthur Stilwell, Harry S. Truman, Amelia Earhart, and Thomas Hart Benton.

The combined attendance for the events was nearly 5,000, making it the most attended series ever at the Kansas City Public Library.
