Thankful for blessings

My son was in a horrific car accident in 2000. He fought for his life in the intensive care unit for 30 days. There was discussion about the possibility of amputating his legs. Today he is a strong, healthy young man with both legs who plays golf on Sundays.

My daughter-in-law suffered a ruptured appendix in her sixth month of pregnancy. She survived the difficult surgery and her baby girl was born at full term.

My daughter, after many years of trying, became pregnant but experienced numerous health problems that threatened the termination of the life she was carrying. God helped her through all of them, bringing a healthy baby girl into the world.

After 24 years as a single mom I met a wonderful, kind man, and we were married in February 1999. Then in December of 1999 he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He opted for surgery.

I thought, “Now is the time I will pay for my sins.” Yet his annual test last month was still negative.

Looking back, I wonder in awe at the blessings God continued to give me. And I, a sinner, thank him every day.

Mmm-mm, Jeanie. Four of your loved ones survived life-threatening accidents or illnesses and you thanked NONE of the dozens of doctors, nurses and paramedics who helped them survive?

You also ignored the thousands of nameless scientists and medical researchers who developed the treatments that saved their lives and health.

Thanking God is appropriate. Ignoring the dedicated people who work his will is pathetic.
