Let’s see: One individual, California developer Matt A. Rose (Business, 1/27) is planning to spend $4 billion on a sports-themed entertainment complex in Las Vegas apparently without any donations from other individuals or organizations, yet Kansas City can’t raise less than one-tenth that amount to build a badly needed performing arts center. What does this say about our society’s priorities or the alleged generosity of KC’s citizens?

"What does this say about our society’s priorities or the alleged generosity of KC’s citizens?"
It says that more people go to one baseball or football game than go to the performing arts center all year. That is where the votes are anjd where the money goes.
Maybe if the orchestra had a 300 pound pass rusher??????

So far it looks like Matt Rose is going after private money to cover the costs rather than public money.

You could say, "The people have spoken." Apparently the level of support for this is not as great as the people pushing it had hoped.
