Words have meaning

Eenie, meenie, minie, moe.

That children’s rhyme from long ago

Was mean and racist, plenty so —

I heard the giggles and I know.

Kids may have thought it was OK

To be so hostile in their play,

Because their parents thought that way.

I saw the things they’d do and say.

No need to travel back so far

Or ride around our town by car

To see how racist some still are.

Just read the letters in The Star.

No I read about the Black on White crime in the Star. That is some real hostility.

Evening locusts buzz
Thoughts wither in heat of sun -
Star prints the absurd
