There were 43,443 people killed in auto accidents in the United States last year. Many of those would have survived if only they had worn seat belts.
In an auto accident, three crashes occur, not one. The first crash is when the auto hits another vehicle or some unmovable object. The second crash is when the unrestrained passengers collide with the windshield, dashboard or other objects when ejected. Due to the sudden impact, the third crash is when the passenger’s internal body organs are torn loose or when the brain contacts the inside of the skull resulting in brain injury.
Wear your seat belts. Your life is important to your loved ones.

Quit yer preaching. It's my right as an American not to wear a seat belt. Don't interfere with my rights. There's lots of people who gets into accidents all the time and don't get hurt while not wearing a seat belt.
And don't get me started on my right to smoke, you pansies!
Hmmm. 43,000 killed in auto accidents last year.
Over 400,000 deaths annually in the U.S. attributable to illnesses linked to smoking and exposure to second-hand smoke. Gives one pause, doesn't it?
