In response to the letter by Kent Comfort (12/6, “Unrest in Mexico”): First of all, who “sheepishly accepted” the results of the 2000 election? Six years later, liberals are still crying about it, as evidenced by Comfort’s letter.
The same Supreme Court that liberals have used for years to implement their agenda (which hasn’t won at the polls) made the final ruling. And recount after recount failed to show Gore winning Florida.
Funny how you don’t see many Republicans with court challenges when they lose elections, even though many of us suspect that there is plenty of fraud in the Kansas City and St. Louis areas that got Claire McCaskill elected.
Finally, if democracy is so great in Mexico, why are so many Mexicans trying to get into the United States?
Stop crying already! You guys won in November, and you’re still not happy.

M.L. - What do you mean "would have given Gore the victory" - how is anyone certain of what the count "would have" been if the entire state was recounted?
All we ARE certain of is that every recount solidified Bush's victory, but it still took action from the Supreme Court to get the Gore camp to accept it and move on.

Although it's pretty irrelevant by now, Ross' statement "And recount after recount failed to show Gore winning Florida." is not correct.
The Miami Herald found that a complete recount of all votes cast in Florida would have given Gore the victory by a few hundred votes.
Recounts of the handful of counties that Gore requested would not have yielded a victory.
