Views on Bush's Iraq plan
What we’re doing to Iraq
President Bush continues to justify bizarre adventures to control Iraqi oil at the expense of a volunteer force that includes many poor youths seeking escape from poverty. Profiteers, paid billions of dollars to handle “support” — with employees getting six-figure salaries — are not adequately supporting our troops, who are paraded around Iraq as a diversion while others attempt to negotiate ownership of the oil fields.
Democrats and Republicans must put an end to this farce by showing Bush the path to a speedy departure from Iraq. They must also demand the removal of private mercenary forces, who are protecting oil interests.
As this happens, Americans must recognize there will be chaos as Iraqi factions clamor for control — similar to the fall of South Vietnam. As we did in Vietnam, we have damaged Iraq, terrorized its people and increased the anger among its different factions. Nothing Iraqis could do to one another could be worse than what we will leave behind.
And like Vietnam, the people of Iraq will ultimately welcome our departure, if we allow them control of their coveted oil and other natural resources.

Bush support melting
Have you ever watched snow melt? You can’t actually see it disappear. But as you continue to look, you begin to slowly see more and more ground appear until it’s finally gone completely.
This is a good description of the current state of the support for the president over the way he is handling the war, by Americans and his own party. The GOP is fracturing over what is going on in our global affairs.
Since the elections in November, Republicans have been fighting among themselves in record numbers. These fights are both national and local, as witnessed in the Phill Kline mess.
Such infighting cannot be good for the United States, Kansas or Johnson County. The results of the election seem to have been completely lost on those who were voted out.
Instead of finally realizing what is so badly needed in government and politics, Republicans are turning on each other in a self-inflicted feeding frenzy that may just result in the obliteration of the entire party.
They complained, during the campaign, that the Democrats haven’t offered any solutions. Well, as long as your opponents are digging their own graves, all you have to do is watch it happen.

Engineer,
If in 20 years Iraq is a safe, stable Country, it will be largely despite the almost unprecedented ineptitude, mismanagement, and poor decision-making displayed by the Bush administration over the past 5 years in the Middle East. I have hope that we will see such stability in Iraq, but the sad fact is that we've been more the problem than the solution.

If in 20 years Iraq is a safe, stable Country, it will be largely because President George W. Bush got Saddam removed and stuck with the problens included in letting a stable country develop.

mike d - I hope that in 20 years Iraq will be stable. It took VietNam about that much time to become a flourishing country.
GW's actions will have done nothing to cause that to happen. His actions are directly responsible for the current tibulations of the Iraqi people and the weakening of the USA as a nation.
But I'm sure the Bush lovers just like the Reagan lovers will attempt to expunge the truth and prop him up as a visionary genius.
One thing they won't be able to hide is the gibberish spoken by the most mentally challenged president in the history of the office. But I know they will try just like FOXNews tries to change the facts to suit their views.

Yes, imagine how this nation would be without either the Republican Party or the Democratic Party. They have been sharing power for way too long and only know how to take advantage of us poor taxpayers, sucking the very life from our blood.
We need a true freedom loving party that will honor and accept the limits on the power of government that is the constitution.
Vote Libertarian whenever you can!

I give up. I just complemented you on another thread and then you post this.

Imagine how great this country would be without the democrat and republican parties!!
They are 98% of our problems.
49% each.

Since we are playing the imagine/what if game.
Imagine in 20 years Iraq is a flourishing democratic country - thanks to GW. Wouldn't that just piss you Bush haters off?

If Bush succeeds in obliterating the Republican party he may turn out to be the best President this country ever had, by accident of course. Imagine how great this country would be without the Republican party!! The converse is also true imagine how horrible this country would be without liberals.
