Funkhouser’s car

Regarding concerns about what Mayor Mark Funkhouser drives: Why don’t the news media check the parking lot at Ford and see what is parked there? If Jesus came to Kansas City and became mayor, Republicans and Democrats would find fault with him. God help him if he drove a Toyota.

Agree.

Followed by my amassment that the Funk man was not politically astute enough to realize that, just maybe, he should choose a car that would appeal to the K.C. automobile-manufacturing unions. ‘Cause potentially teeing off a large block of voters is the very first thing every newly elected politician should do.

I think Larry is wrong. Jesus wouldn't drive a Toyota...he would walk everywhere. And then he would be harassed for not supporting the bus system.

For the record, my concern with Funkhouser cargate wasn't with the make of the automobile, but the fact that the mayor accepted a rather large personal "gift."

And this was not long after he put on a show about how he was going to continue to drive his 10-year-old Toyota instead of the city-leased Lincoln.

It's ignorance and denial. These "buy American" types are typically idiots that refuse to accept the fact that Toyota build a great vehicle and employs tens of thousands of Americans. These same folks get on a non-American made PC and (Dell is not made here) and bad mouth educated buyers. On top of that, we live in a FREE country where we are allowed to CHOOSE what we buy.
