I read a statement made by Japan’s defense minister, Fumio Kyuma, that he felt the use of the atomic bombs was necessary to end World War II (7/1, A-15, “Japan’s defense chief criticized by atomic bomb victims”). Now I see that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is demanding an apology from Kyuma. Has the truth gone so far off course that you must apologize for speaking the truth? Only in Japan, I pray!

Editor’s note: The Star reported Tuesday that Kyuma has now resigned.

If there had been more rubber, there would have been fewer Japanese.

And that bomb went down the smoke stack of the Arizona. Why else would smoke have come out?

Pearl Harbor was a controlled demolition, as evidenced by the loss of “Ship 7.”

We actually knew that Pearl Harbor was going to be attacked but we let it happen anyway because we were after Japan’s oil.

Remember, each country slants their history books to make themselves look good. That is one of the majoor reasons Nations, like people in general, don't seem to learn anything from the past.
If you look to Japanese style history, WWII was caused by the U.S. who forced them into it. This is despite the fact that the Japanese Empire had been at war for several yearss before we got in it. Apparently we caused them to invade Mongolia and China. Pearl Harbor goes virtually unmentioned.
